OESA and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants announce “Leveraging Opportunities in the Russian Automotive Market,” an executive breakfast briefing and roundtable discussion on March 19, 2009, at the Troy Marriott, Troy, Mich. OESA and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants will present information on the current status of the Russian automotive industry and opportunities for suppliers, focusing on trends and drivers, and case studies. Despite the global economic downturn, Russia continues to be relevant to automotive suppliers as production by foreign OEMs grows and pressure increases to meet “localization” targets. At the same time, Russian OEMs are shedding internal parts manufacturing operations in favor of outsourcing. General Motors, Volvo, Hyundai, Ford and Renault, among others continue to invest in Russian facilities. Opportunities exist for suppliers who wish to enter the market in small ways, e.g. through licensing agreements and, for those ready to take a larger step, state-offered investment incentives. Given the current cash shortage in the automotive market, suppliers will be interested that these incentives do not require immediate investment. Juergen Reers, partner, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants - Detroit, and Boris Firsov, partner, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants - Moscow, will provide an overview of the Russian market and share strategies for successful market entry. They will discuss the following key success factors for international automotive suppliers in the Russian market, including: - An outlook on the market development and major drivers for growth in the vehicle and component supply markets
- Define a business case with detailed sales and production plans
- Develop local access to international and domestic customers
- Structure investments to ensure success
- Tap into government investment incentives
- Understand specific Russian market requirements and the business environment
Successful supplier case studies will also be shared. The meeting will be held in a “roundtable” format to enable two way dialogue and an open question and answer forum.
